Right, the guys that have been caught manipulating and manufacturing data to reach a desired conclusion. I am not saying it is or it isn't real. I am just saying it is not definitive.

This blanket appeal to authority is disturbing.

Is anyone hear arguing against nuclear energy? It's going to be a huge part of any progress we make on this. We need more nuclear plants.

No, but there are plenty of people out there who have been, and still are. And that will keep us burning fossil fuels.

Even if you magically can make everyone believe in climate change.

There are still far too many people who think we can solve all our power generation issues with wind and solar.

Well, I am heading down to Lafitte to expand my carbon footprint and catch some trout. Y'all get this shite figured out by the time I get back.

All the world's climate scientists got together at Greg's house and decided how to lie about climate change. Is that what you're proposing?

Look, sometimes I read an article that says what I want to hear. Sometimes I believe it, and make broad sweeping assumptions about what it means in the grand scheme of things. Occasionally, I catch myself and think, maybe this isn't true. Any chance you've ever read any propaganda pieces that pushed the rhetoric that you already wanted to believe?

I can tell you how we're not going to solve it - by pretending it doesn't exist so certain people can continue to get their profits.

And I can also tell you how we're not going to solve it...by not having an alternative energy source available to replace fossil fuels.

Why should I even give a shite about it if there's not a solution to the problem available? Until there is, it's nothing but hot air and political posturing.

Confirmation bias and changing data to meet your "scientific" theories are two different things. Don't conflate them to muddle the argument.

They had to get rid of that "1940's blip".

If we lie and convince everyone there isn't a problem, who is going to look for a solution?

you will never solve ALL of your power generation problems with just wind and solar... i agree nuclear should be heavily invested in... but there's also hydroelectric (where available), geothermal, etc... why limit the ways we can derive alternative sources of energy? we should be exhausting ALL of the various ways, which won't totally eliminate our dependence on fossil fuels, but it would drastically reduce it...

Well those people need to be educated and convinced, and that's a discussion worth having. But it's impossible to have in this country because first we have to decide if there's a conspiracy of scientists clandestinely trying to take down Exxon.

Solar, wind and especially nuclear are all areas we need to invest in. Let's talk about how and in which to do that, let's end this Alex Jones conspiracy bullshite.

A. There are plenty of people who think there's a problem.
B. There's no need to "look" for a solution, we already have one. But it keeps being shitcanned because the very same people who think there's a problem think the solution is unicorn farts and fairy dust.

It's not going to be easy. It's going to cost a shite ton of money and effort in the beginning. It's probably not going to be profitable for quite a while. So, nobody is just going to take the lead and do it. We have to change our culture.

It's not the conspiracy theorists you need to convince though. It's the people blocking the investment in to next generation nuclear technologies.

Fix that problem, roll out the plants, and let capitalism take its course. Then you don't even have to worry about the conspiracy theorists.

Because of the unnecessary hurdles put in place.

They will when the unnecessary hurdles are removed.

Seriously, who would want a longer growing season for the food that both animals and humans eat? More CO2 = more plants = more O2 and food. Cold climate is worse than hot climate because food can not be grown. Pollution is bad and should be curbed, but we should not line the pockets of the worlds elite because of a non issue of climate change.
