Given enough exposure the Southern accent eventually overcomes all

If there are enough people with accents around and if they expose the newcomer to the accent for long enough it will begin to take hold in my experience. Like kudzu.
Question: Will the new people who are here from way south (mexico) eventually pick up the Southern accent also?

I read in the book The Right Stuff that for decades airline pilots and aviation people in general had these southern accents when communicating because that’s how Chuck Yeager talked. There is something influential about that speech pattern.

Mandeville, Covington etc natives have a Nola accent, just less pronounced. Obviously a southshore transplant will have a much more pronounced one.
Go north of Covington and you’ll start to see a southern accent.

Hmmm the opposite happened with my neice.
Born and raised in Dallas.
After graduating from A&M she moved to New York and in no time flat, she started sounding like a Yankee.

This isn't unique to southern accents. People with accents that are less common in a given area are likely to adopt the majority accent over time. We are deeply, deeply evolved to mimic our tribe at a subconscious level.
