But seriously, is his wife's reason for her wanting him to quit have anything to do with his addiction?

Nah, it's the successful career as a medical doctor she can't live with.

And if he chooses to stay at his job, would she rat him out for using and try to have him stripped of medical licenses?

Or just let him live his life and be on his way?

But you're thinking logically. Somebody who's addicted to drugs isn't thinking rationally. If this person is a medical professional I'm assuming that opiates are what they're addicted to.

You have an advanced medical degree. You have a great job and make excellent money. (Mid 200’s). Your wife finds out you have an addiction to narcotics. She tells you to quit your job or she is leaving you.

Do you leave your job or your wife.

What a stupid hypothetical. Wouldn’t she say rehab first? I mean recovering alcoholics can go to restaurants without drinking booze, so why couldn’t a doctor do the same with drugs? For your scenario to work, your wife has to be a delusional twat, in which case you should divorce her regardless of any hypothetical.

It's like you've never encountered a woman.

Not if it was the second stint in rehab. License would be revoked.

It’s not that bad. Maybe the wife has had bad experiences with addicts in the past (maybe an abusive junky dad or something). Or maybe this isn’t the husbands first time being addicted to something. Her ultimatum could possibly be valid.

In any event, it’s not really a fair question because the guy is an addict. He’s not going to be thinking rationally about this.

I spend about 45 hours a week at work because I have to (but i kind of like work.)

I would choose to stay home if i was wealthy.

So i would take the wife all day, every day.

Plus, i think I can be moderately successful at many things even though I have only tried one.

What a stupid “hypothetical”.

The choice isn’t between a wife and career the choice he needs to make is between using/not using.

Fact: if he continues to use he will lose both.

Give up the wife. She’s too dumb to leave an addict.

An addict who works at a Burger King is still an addict.
