I guarantee Nuvaring is to blame (she had used the product for 3 years).

Thanks Doctor!

True. None of them are worth the risk, at all!!!

As someone who doesn't want to produce a kid, they are definitely worth the risk.

Two girls in my office became pregnant while on it...

They must have been on some antibiotics and not using additional protection.

NuvaRing is pretty hard to mess up. Or they were trying to get pregnant.

Hoping no one using hormonal birth control has the MTHFR gene mutation.

What is the issue? I’m not on hormonal BC anymore, but I haven’t heard this before. My doc is generally dismissive of anything with MTHFR.

This is from the Walgreen's website. I'm not sure how big of a concern it really is, I've just always heard they can make it less effective.

Antibiotics that have been shown to interact with birth control pills include rifampin (Rifadin®), and to a lesser extent, penicillin, amoxicillin, ampicillin, sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (Bactrim®), tetracycline, minocycline, metronidazole (Flagyl®) and nitrofurantoin (Macrobid® or Macrodantin®).

My 22 year old granddaughter developed a massive clot in her cavernous sinus, blocking the right internal jugular vein. Thank God she had no neuro deficits and the worse was a raging headache for days (this due to build up of fluid in the brain due to the blocked vein). She spent 6 days in ICU being heparinized, went home on Coumadin and is now on Eliquis.

Come on people, you guys are slippin.
Pictures of granddaughter?

Those who have this are more prone to thrombus formation.

Adding: and frequent miscarriages because of clots

She looks a lot like Giada deLaurentis, but sorry no pics. You can meet her if you are a patient in a certain ICU.
