Getting scoped upper GI

Realistically how long do I have to fast. Dr said 18 hrs which is impossible. Scope isn’t till noon on Monday I can’t stop at 4 this evening. Thought about a huge meal around 4-5 and a sip of water here and there till midnight the done

If you don’t fast correctly they won’t do the procedure.

When I've had an endoscopy the fasting time was 8 hours. I've never heard of 18 hours of fasting. Then, again, I'm not a doctor.
You may want to re-read your instructions (especially now that I have read your sig quote).

Read the doctors orders and then do what you want. A man has to survive. Hope he doesn't find anything down there. It sounds like you may have worms.

I think that's for the colonoscopy. The endoscopy looks at the the stomach (which should be empty) and above.

Your doctor should have given you two fasting timelines.
One for solids and one for clear liquids.
Seriously though...these are questions you should have clarified with your doctor and not the internet.
Maybe there is a special circumstance in your case and that is why the longer fasting time?

For an UPPER endoscopy just nothing solid after midnight, clear liquids are OK up until 4 hours before procedure. Instructions are all different if you’re getting a colonoscopy.

I've had it done twice. Never had to fast that long. I am jealous of your pending propofol nap, fwiw.
