Humph. I'm glad I didn't send you grad money, then.

My wife was throwing these in the trash last weekend and throwing a fit about 5th cousins 4 times removed sending them.
Little fricking freeloaders
ETA:
It also seems the new thing is young people having a fricking baby shower for their 3rd kid. fricking trash.

Yep, until it’s graduation time for the little Larsons

Mine graduated years ago and it was direct family only.
I would be embarrassed to send a card to someone that barely knew them.
Plus my wife's family is huge.
MIL 1 of 12 children
FIL 1 of 12 children

The rule I go by:
If they aren’t family or children of direct co-workers, then unless they’ve been to my house for dinner in about the last 5 years, or I’ve been to theirs, then they aren’t close enough friends to get anything.

I should do this.. Send a gift that's inappropriate. Or something completely useless.. Like a phone for a landline with a cord on it...

Can I borrow yours to mail them?

You are such a fcking drama queen. Throw the invite in the trash and go on with life. Don't start a stupid thread and wonder what you should do. Dumbass.
I will say, I told my parents to not mail any invites to anyone we weren't close with for college. I didn't want to annoy people.
A month later I was at the golf course and an older nice gentleman I used to play with on weekends for four years as a teenager asked about an invitation since he wanted to give me a gift. I felt like crap for leaving him off the list.

Why do you hate kids so much?

Shameless money grab for a starving college freshman or fresh faced adult. Throw a $20 in a generic grad card with a one liner of wisdom. We were all there once.

Dude calm down. I am not going to do anything, but when you get an invite from someone you don't know.. It just makes you wonder why..

You said you knew the parents and the kid but just hadn’t seen them in a while.

"Send it to Mr. Chris. Yea, the guy in a wheelchair that posts on that message board where they pummel him with insults all day. Surely that's a paying gig, so he must have money."

I know the dad, I haven't talked to him in probably.. 15 years. I know of his wife. Have never seen the kid in my life until today when a picture of him was included in the invite..

Good idea. Send a note of congratulations. Nothing wrong about that.

Yes, I get them, but I don't think twice about it. If it's someone I know and what to give a gift--I do. If not, I toss it in the garbage. Done.
