I’ve been trying to learn more about Local politics. This bitch seems dumb as a rock.

like every major city, Houston has a creeping ghetto problem. We have no intentions of our kids staying in this suburb past elementary school. Half their daycare is now what we call “voucher kids”

There are a few parts of Houston that are on Baton Rouge's level, but by and large the city has gone through a lot of gentrification and urban renewal since the 80's and 90's.

Add that to some of the most obscenely huge houses and wealthy neighborhoods I've ever seen (Memorial, River Oaks, Rice University) and it's actually a pretty good city.

It's not scenic or picturesque, but it's the opposite of NOLA - not really worth visiting as a tourist, but a good place to live.

Houston proper is significantly less ghetto than it was 10 and especially 20 years ago.

The gentrification of mid town, and third ward is just pushing the hood out to spring and other burbs

This doesn’t effect Harris County, right? Asking for a friend.

No but you are likely already paying more than houston for water if you are in a mud

seriously. i thought that was a joke when announced. Houston will turn into the 3rd world countries that Jackson, Chicago, New Orleans, or Memphis have turned into quick, fast, and in a hurry if Sheila Jackson Lee takes over.

Exactly. She will be Latoya 2.0. It's sad but she will likely easily get elected.

is Houston a shite-hole like Baton Rouge?

Yeah if you look at Houston proper east of 288 and 59 I guess they’re comparable

Yeah I don’t understand it either. Both cities are great. I will say I find the people of Houston to be friendlier. Houston people remind me of Louisiana people and Dallas people remind me of New York people.

Lived in both places and I concur. I much prefer Houston. I also prefer it over Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and New Orleans. Generally it's a much better place to live.

Yikes! I just missed this new development. If we end up with she and Hidalgo together, we gonna be the next Seattle.

Naw. We are all in MUDs or like my neighborhood, our very own water system for 130 homes. We probably pay more than the City of Houston.

Fine, go ahead and raise my water bill. All I ask is to make Beltway 8 toll-free. The loop has already been paid for many times over. Freaking toll booths are what's causing enough congestion, even during non-peak traffic.

You know what state doesn’t have toll roads?
