I was traveling to Florida. I wasn't going 86, my cruise control was set at 80, I was all the way over in the far left lane, the patrol car was at a halt with the nose out from the far right, there were about 3 cars between us as it was a 3 lane highway, it was rainy, cloudy, humid, he says his laser clocked me. Can you advise any traffic lawyers to fight this? I'm a TN resident. What I am fighting is the obsurbed 15+mph over that the cop said I was going. To my surprise GA has a super speeder fine that tacts on an extra $200 to the original fine if you go 85mph over on any interstate in GA.

Also, the cop didn't ask for my registration or car insurance, is that common practice?

Cops are dumb, they should be going after real criminals.

Am I doing it right?

Registration and insurance comes up on their computers automatically. Sucks you got busted, I've had a couple super speeders. They're no fun. One was 485$ other was 300$. Where was it? Is it gonna be worth your time coming back down to fight it and probably not win?

You have to have proof that your cruise control and mph gauge is 100% accurate, otherwise they will default side with the cops reading

So you were speeding and in the passing lane?

You deserve the ticket dipshit.

I don't really know what OP can do to prove his case. It's his word against the cop's, and he was speeding.

Just don't speed next time. Simple.

No, I would have a lawyer represent me. How bad did the super speeder effect your premium? I don't want to just accept it when I know there are other variables in place to get it reduced.

It doesn't matter what your cruise control was set at.

1) If you tell the judge you had it set at 10 over he isn't going to have sympathy.
2) It could be off.
3) Cops are notorious on the interstate for clocking people right after they crest a hill. You're going to be going faster than what you set the cruise control at.

Good luck to you. I hope you can get it reduced. The rainy weather isn't going to help your case. You are expected to be more cautious in that situation.

Was it GSP? Local sheriff? Where were you? Is it worth the lawyer fees? Honestly I don't recall my insurance going up at all.

You're going to pay a lawyer $200 per hour to fight a $400 ticket. You had to be going 86 because you aren't too good with numbers.
