I'm pretty much in the middle of gen x and feel pretty lucky.
We remember a less distracted time and can still escape there when we want.
Yet we're young enough to grasp all this new shite. In fact we started most of it.

But that's okay. Generation X is used to being ignored, stuffed between two much larger, much more vocal, demographics. But whatever! Generation X is self-sufficient. It was a latchkey child. Its parents were too busy fulfilling their own personal ambitions to notice any of its trophies-which were admittedly few and far between because they were only awarded for victories, not participation.

but isn't the current crop of whiners the offspring of Gen X?
Not the leading cohorts of millenials - the early/mid-80s babies - that was all Boomer parents. And even in the 90s, it was probably a Boomer heavy-mix until about 94 or 95, and late Boomers have a bunch of these high school and college kids, although maybe not a majority.

Anyone know where I could get some?

I remember some comedy rant about how being a teen/young adult in the '80's kind of sucked because you missed the drugs and free love of the '60's/'70's, everyone was freaked about AIDS and the chicks all wore baggy clothes, then later in the '90's everyone was having fun again doing X and having rainbow parties.

I can identify. We are carrying the load for the freeloading leeches on either side of us. I keep wondering at what point we will just shrug it off and peace out.

That is great and most of it is spot on.

Most millennials can remember a less distracted time too. We spent a lot of our childhood in the 90s, playing outside and all that.

Gen X better be prepared to make some tough decisions or things will collapse under their watch

Yeah I was way off on the date ranges. My apologies to X'rs for trying to saddle you with all of the Johnny Do-nothins we have now
