owned 4 F-150s, and I’ve never had any issues other than regular maintenance. You have zero evidence that Toyota’s are better than Ford/Chevy other than they just run?

I still see many of the 90’s model 150’s on the road. Those things seem bulletproof. So the claim that the Toyota’s just run, while others don’t, is bullshite.

the price gap keeps growing too.
it seems like eventually Ford will price themselves into 2nd place, but the sales just keep happening despite seeming to increase price at a faster rate than the competition.

note: the only pricing data i have is my own personal experience shopping for truck over the last 8 years or so.

Toyota has been building the Tundra for 20 years now, and the T-100 before that. They are trounced by Chevrolet and Ford in this segment every year.

If you are talking sales numbers, I’d like to see the comparison when you remove fleet/govt purchases from GM and Fords overall sales. Not saying Tundra would be #1 but the gap wouldn’t be as wide (obviously)

Sometimes products are popular because they are actually good. The Japanese brands haven’t cracked the full sized Truck and SUV market the way they have with compact and mid sized cars.

What’s your point?

Pretty sure he’s saying domestic trucks are good and that’s why they sell and people haven’t switched to Toyota.

People that say this don't understand the US full size truck market. The market is so competitive, that everyone is making a good truck right now. Even Chrysler, who puts almost no effort into anything else makes great trucks these days.

Trucks are the biggest money maker for all 3 by a wide margin. They put massive amounts of money into R&D. They all make good trucks.

I'm on my phone so don't have the data in front of me right now, but in the latest JD Power rankings Ford was near the top just behind the Korean brands, and the Japanese brands were way down the list.

And about 3 out of the 340 are used for their designed purposes.

Each brand is built for a price point and for different reasons. I’ve been in the automotive business for 27 years and I’ll share my opinion. Ford- there’s a reason it’s number one. They make the toughest truck. If you look most farm trucks or construction trucks are Fords. Chevrolet- built for road use. It rides better and gets better gas mileage. It’s also 7-10k less than a Ford for a reason. A ten year old Chevy will drive fine because they have great power trains but will rattle your teeth out due to rivets and tak welds vs bolts holding the frame together. Dodge- the budget work truck. They’ve started making great looking interiors and have solid power trains but will fall apart after ten years. They also have poor fuel economy due to the lack of research in electronics. If you have a Dodge with two spark plugs it’s because they had raw fuel coming from the tail pipe. Toyota- makes a great truck with lots of power but have attrosis fuel economy. The import brands haven’t figured out how to build a V8 without guzzling fuel. A Toyota frame is also inferior when pulling very heavy loads in off road conditions which keeps it off of job sites. It will twist to the point of permanent damage. In my opinion they have a great look inside and out but keep it to light duty. Anyway, there’s my two cents.

200k miles is just breaking in most domestic trucks and full sized vans, and full sized SUVs.

Ford claims their f series is the number one selling truck year after year. Chevy let's them have that claim even though Chevy/GMC out sells.

Well, when comparing full sized pickups Ford F-series outsells Chevy and GMC combined. 898K to 804k

I drive a Ford but I'm no brand fanboy. My first truck was a 1981 GMC Sierra with a 350. It's still running - original motor and transmission. My grandfather bought it from me and sold it to a guy that he knew.

The designed purpose is to get as much money from the consumer as possible. "Luxury" trucks have an incredible profit margin.

by end of the year it will be Ford

Why? Ford has more national fleet accounts. They always unload at EOY

Don't agree with this comment. I have a 2017 F-150 with 15K miles on it that has a running average of 22.3 MPG.

I don't / haven't pulled anything and I am not a heavy foot driver. I drive ~23 miles to work and back and it's your normal crappy Ascension Parish log jam travel.
