Last decent generation. Not saying there aren't decent individuals in younger generations, but those generations, as a whole, are garbage.

People have been saying this since time immemorial. It doesn’t mean the next generation is shite, it just means you are out of touch with it.

Why do you say 1980 should be included other than it being a round number? My younger sister was born in 1980.

Realistically we probably have a bunch of micro generations now due to technology shifts.

I just asked a question. Most of the other generations they define don't start or end with the decades. 1946-1964 for Boomers for example.

I’m Gen X and my oldest is 8. She seems pretty awesome to me.

I know a lot of cool millennials. I think those stereotypes apply to a small minority.

Our kids are zooomers and they aren't Skittle-headed communists (stolen from Roger)

1980 is definitely not Gen X. It’s millennial. They more than likely have more in common with someone born in 1985 than someone born in 1975.

I’m not arguing with the numbers but I was born in 83. I identify waaaaaaaay more with somebody born in 73 than I do 93.

I was a latch key kid and grew up in the “come home when the lights come on” generation. I also grew up in a house with a vhs and car with an 8 track.

We get it man you want to hang with the cool Gen X kids. My son is still in his early teen's so throwing out kids born to Gen X is probably complicated because they probably range from 30's to teens or younger.

They all wanted to be the "friend" parents.
Doesn't work....

Almost half of GenZ aren't even legal adults yet. The youngest ones are about 11 years old

That’s because Millennials should be a very small micro generation, as the whole point of the name was that they were “coming of age at the new millennium”. Gen X should wrap up with people who reached full adulthood prior to the digital age. Gen Z should begin with people who don’t remember an analog world.

Millennials should be the bridge, born into an analog world and aging into a digital one. No more than about ten years or so. Basically, what some people are now calling “Xennials” or “the Oregon Trail generation”. Technology, and how the world interacted with technology, was moving far too fast at that point to keep to a “traditional” generation length.

This is why you have the transitional group "xennials".

As to the OP, Most Gen Xer's children are already in their 30s. The early Millennials are the ones with the shithead children. I fall right at the end of Gen X (1978) and in the middle of my family peer group. There is a huge difference between my older cousins/siblings and my younger cousins/siblings.

That’s a scary thing to consider. I’m an older millennial but was raised by a combo of boomer parents and silent generation grand parents. I wasn’t allowed to run wild in stores or disrespect adults or teachers, and if I did, I got spanked. That’s not really common with the gen x parents I see. Many of them basically let their kids run wild with no consequences.

Maybe some, but you think your average 49-50 yr old has 30+ yr old children? That's right around the middle of GenX.
