I seen a BRPD officer haul tail lights on no siren through bellview drive in Plaquemine, LA, drive down LA 1 blasting through a 30 mph zone almost causing 3 accidents, flying down LA 1 almost slamming into the back of a chemical tanker slowing down to cross a rail road crossing, running a red light in Addis missing a car, running through a school zone barely missing a school bus turning on to the service road. All this to respond to an accident on the New Miss River Bridge which had 3 officers already in the scene.

Please explain to the class how you were able to follow this maniac cop driving with bar lights on in a marked police car, blasting through red lights, school zones and running people off the road all the way from the Belleview road in Plaquemine to the I-10 bridge, through 4 different municipalities, yet you were able to keep up close enough to observe all of his erratic driving. Do tell please

I'm pretty disappointed, it's been several hours now and no posts from Gary on Facebook. I'm guessing he didn't expect the no votes from some of the black council members and now isn't sure how to proceed. Seems pretty clear it's not going to pass even in 2 more weeks.

So, wanting a particular group of persons to do a job because of their skin color is textbook discrimination. The proponents are saying white people are not good police officers because of the color of their skin. It's out right racism. But, for some reason, blacks get away with it.

Also, why do black people wear the African clothes? I don't get it. It's not like I wear a Scottish kilt around town. It's like, yeah, you're black, your distant relatives are from Africa, we get it.

Why does LSU and Southern recruit players that live outside of EBR, and out of the state? Obviously because it gives them a bigger talent pool to select from.

The same principle applies to cops, teachers, doctors or any profession. The larger the talent pool you select from the better chance you have of improving your services.

I'll never understand this debate.. Jobs should not be contingent on location outside elected positrons as these are people of our community, maybe not our our direct city but working within should be good enough.. They don't change who they are because of where whey live

I just don't know where they get this idea that if a black cop rolls up on a pissed off black felon with a weapon that they're just going to hug it out.

Most of the municipal and utility employees in this area are required to live in the service area/city/county they serve.

Don't think it applies to cops though, at least not all of the departments.

I see cars from different departments parked at officers' homes that are not in the city, some bot even the same county, they work for. Which we have 4 PDs & 2 Sheriff Depts (Quad Cities) within spitting distance of each other.

They deferred it, but all except for the most retarded two or three council members were against it. Even most of the dems on council were against it. Sounds like they're going to end up passing something that is more of a incentive to live in the city and a push to hire more minority officers, rather than actually just forcing them to live here.

I'm fine with that. Chief Dabadie is still going to make sure we have our best on the roads. I couldn't give a shite what color they are.

Completely agree. He pissed off the ghetto trash in the audience. They didn't expect anybody to straight up call out their stupidity and hidden agenda.

At 2:30 am, I don't see a compromise for residency requirement. It is the foundation for police reform. If we didn't have residents from our community applying to work for BRPD before, we certainly won't now. All of the facts that would have made our conservative brothers on the council shutter, suddenly don't matter because White police have the advantage. That is what systemic racism looks like. All the ideas mentioned are not a substitution for residency requirement they are tools to make it work. We want police officers to live and invest in our community, both black and white. What about that, my colleagues don't get? As long as the door of employment to Ascension and Livingston Parishes are open, their will the racial and cultural divide in our community. Everything you heard last night is ten times worst and police officers experience it as well. Again, I totally support Chief Dabadie, but he works for the mayor, and the mayor works for the union. There is a strong hold on this BRPD by the union. If all these brilliant suggestions would have worked, we would not have an unresolved 35 year old consent decree. I will continue to fight for residency requirement and continue to get data. If this doesn't past, I will approach the Justice Dept.. to alert them of this barrier!!!

Would you look at the complete idiocy and hypocrisy in this one statement alone?
