In any case, it's pointless to join. Most people can get better insurance through an alumni association. We also already get enough magazines and newsletters we don't read.

During whatever period Mensa accepted standardized test scores, I assume those SAT/ACT scores translated to the 98th percentile or above.

As far as benefits go, I couldn't tell you, but I would assume they would be similar to other social organizations. There are probably career networking opportunities, possibly philanthropic activities and there surely must be a social aspect involved. But, again, I don't know. I'm just speculating. Maybe it's just a bunch of socially retarded eggheads who get together once a month (but not on the night Big Bang Theory or Young Sheldon air) and solve brain teasers for an hour or two.

Not sure if it was top 2 or top 5 percent. I went back and looked it up on their site. ACT had to be before September 1989, and the qualifying score is 29. SAT is 1250 and January 1994. GRE is 1875 and September 2001. LSAT and GMAT are simply 95th percentile.

I doubt the networking opportunities amount to anything. A Mensa member with business sense knows most jobs don't require a genius, so there's no need to recruit (and overpay for) fellow Mensans.

If I thought there was any chance of landing a job with an OT baller salary, I would send in for my SAT and GRE scores.

nola000 made several speculative comments about the guilty verdict being overturned in appellate court after tLSU (who seems to be an ADA in the N.O. DA's office) had already explained why certain evidence was admissible and why he was certain it wouldn't be overturned in appeal. I posted a snarky comment that upset nola000's delicate sensibilities, including a remark that questioned his intelligence. nola then posted a lengthy rebuttal to me (top of pg 26) that let us know, among other things, that his IQ was 138. Predictably, the thread immediately went off the rails as other posters started to attack him. I don't think the names Gasser or McKnight have been written more than once or twice in the past three pages.
