Apparently you don't "know how the oil companies are." Instead you go off of anecdotal emotional belief system. Oil companies make their huge profits off of the Upstream side of the business which is getting it out of the ground and selling it to traders on the open market. Crude prices are trading at $90 per barrel today which is $10 more than yesterday and almost $30 more a barrel than it was on Feb 26th. Your price of gasoline is going up because the supply of crude has been disrupted on the global market.
The refineries are actually more profitable when the price of oil is cheaper because that is when crack spread is the greatest.
Summer prices are generally higher for two reasons environmental regulations force a summer blend a winter blend. Care to guess which one is more costly to make? The other reason is that pesky thing you learned on the first day of Econ 101; the laws of supply and demand. Newsflash Americans consume the most gasoline during the summer driving season!
Increased demand + more expensive blend= higher price per gallon during summer.
