80% here won't get this.
But we 20%ers do.
I remember Tic Tac Dough was popular at the time and we used to make jokes in class about the dragon when someone answered the teacher wrong.
Nothing like worthless game shows and soap operas.

It absolutely kicked arse.
Rayburn and the Match Game panel crew of Brett Somers, Charles Nelson Reilly, Richard Dawson and others was hilarious, especially looking back as a grownup. The double entendres went over a lot of our young heads, I think. Most of them were wasted on the set.

What is it with game show hosts? They all seem to live past 90.

Wasn't Martindale's show the one where the guy memorized the sequence? Tic Tac Dough?
No. That was Peter Tomarken and Press Your Luck. Michael Larson was the guy who cracked the code.
There is a movie about him out now. The luckiest man in America.
Kind of a fun nostalgia watch. After the credits they show the real guy interviewed by the host (Peter Tomarken).

Strong ties to Elvis. Was the first to play thats alright on the radio.
No sir. That was Dewey Phillips on his Red Hot & Blue show. Sam Phillips personally handed him the acetate.
Martindale was there that night and made the phone call to get Elvis down to the radio station to be interviewed.
RIP Wink.
