I sold a 1600 sq ft house in 2010 in broadmoore for $365k. That same house just sold for $430k last year.

Yes it's definitely doable. But add in $15k in taxes and insurance a year plus 2 kids in private school and it's going to stretch you thin.

Your making 175k a year and just scraping by. Sounds like a lifestyle issue.

I never said how much I make. Where did you get that from?

Sounds like you have a reading comprehension issue.

Besides medicine, law, and business owners, are there any other occupations in NOLA that can compete with other cities? Other cities have company headquarters located there, paying hundreds of employees six-figure salaries. NOLA doesn't have that base.

Then again, a lot of cities annex local rich areas to boost their numbers, which really can't be done in NOLA due to geographical restrictions.

shite, this is even debatable. Of course bigger cities will have more slots that need to be filled, but they also may pay more and may cost just the same. That's leaving out similar sized locales with more diverse economies.

By almost every metric that is objective, NO is not competitive. When you get to the whole lifestyle thing, as mentioned, that's personal and not quantifiable.

Obviously you don't make that much. You would know what a crazy comment it is to say you would be thin on that income.

How is that obvious? BTW my household income is irrelevant.

Its not hard to figure out $175k is going to stretch a person thin to afford a $450k house, $30k a year private school tuition for just 2 kids(and that's being generous), plus 2 cars, etc......I guess if you didn't eat, buy clothes or go on vacations you could do it.

Are you really this dumb?

Nah, I just didn't realize I was living so close to the line until you opened me up to it.
