I kind of organically ended up living within two blocks of 5 of my friends several years ago. We just all kind of ended up in the neighborhood one by one. There was always something going on at someone's house and it took five minutes to get there or get home. It you felt like getting plastered, it was only five minutes to stumble home. If you didn't feel like a big party, you could just walk over and see everyone for a few minutes, then walk home. If you needed a hand with anything, you could have two or three people over in ten minutes to knock out whatever you needed. Saturdays and Sundays, there was always something going on at someone's house that everyone was invited to and we'd just kind of take turns having everyone over.

It was pretty fricking awesome for a couple of years before we started moving on one by one.

Yep, in our 30s a lot grew up in the neighborhood we live in. Just all sort of migrated back.

5 of my college friends moved to BR all within a span of about a year when I did for various reasons. 2 of them live right across the street from me. It’s a happy coincidence.

OP situation sounds like bless. I’ve never had the benefit of built-in networks like that

No. That’s a fantasy. Would be like playing sports competively forever. It was fun to love around close friends in college, but life took us in all directions. Happens to everyone. Then we make pseudo friends and look forward to catching up with old friends once every few years at weddings, and then funerals. Circle of life.
