Compared to the $24.2 million spent in the same year by the tobacco lobby.

About what the tobacco lobby spends. And the tobacco lobby only has one objective.

Hope cigar bars are exempt.

According to the guys at Habana Port on Perkins they might not be. This is fricking stupid if true. If you go to Churchill's and complain about the cigar smoke than you are an idiot. That's one of their primary revenue drivers. They'll go out of business otherwise.

I don’t smoke, never have. So I’ve already followed that advice

But if I go to a bar and I don’t like the music, I don’t try to ban the music. I go to a different bar.

Why are so many horrible analogies being made in this thread?

Most of the owners want the ban. Similar to NOLA, they just don't want to lose customers to competition. Puts them all on a level playing field.

So why do we want to eliminate a niche market by regulation?

Why are we so afraid to let the market do its job?

Because a couple of down weeks can spell doom for that industry.

I think giving the government more power over a private business's decisions is a bad idea. While you might like the outcome of this particular law, you may disagree with the next one.

No one is saying smoking is a right. But it is a legal action. Business owners being able to decide what’s best for their business should be.

It’s business owner and consumers rights I’m arguing for, not smokers. Why is more choice in the marketplace a bad thing for you?

If some Smokey arse biker bar wants to let their 80 year old Clientele smoke, who am I to tell them they can’t? It’s not my buisness and it’s not my money and it simply doesn’t appeal to me as a customer so they won’t attach my business. Why are people for the ban incapable of making that decision?

Businesses failing is part of what makes a free market work.

Could be wrong but I feel like most of the decent bars in BR were already non smoking

Why choose this cornerstone to build your soapbox on? To some extent the point of government at this point is to regulate businesses.

Pretty sure the ban was already in place in BR for a while, this new ban just effects the casinos

So build your business model on defending the right to an activity that will result in death.

You are a class action lawyers dream defendant.
