frick Thieves

Late last year, I had both my car (accidentally left it unlocked for a 45-minute window during the middle of the night) and my rental duplex (two-hour window during the middle of the day on a busy street) broken into within a 30-day span of time.
It wasn’t that surprising when you consider that I lived on Jennifer Jean and directly across from Tigerland. The scum in the nearby Section 8 housing there are no surprise.
I moved all the way to Athens, GA, a relatively crime-free town when compared to Baton Rouge. I figured that I had nothing to worry about. NOPE.
I came home after a long day to find my back door kicked in.
The funny thing is that I cannot determine that anything was stolen. Thankfully, check books, electronics, appliances, and other various valuables appear to be unscathed. Hell, practically nothing appears out of place.
I feel fortunate that I wasn’t burgled, which was not the case in Baton Rouge on both prior instances. However, I still feel violated and pissed off.
The frickin no-pet policy for the condominium seems ridiculous now. I’m inclined to demand that my landlord immediately install an actual security system or I’m going to get a Rottweiler or some other form of hell hound to guard the place.

I agree with the OP but, I’m not reading all that there’s a Mingo thread I must attend to.

Don’t rely on someone else. Get the dog.

Just get you one of those $35 WiFi cameras. It’s cheaper and easier than some dog they will shoot

i lived across from the staring motel and i had my dog trained to sound off like he was going ape shite if somebody messed with the door. a lot of the houses around us got broken in to but ours was never touched. He is a gentle giant but he can sound pretty intimidating.

People make a lot of jokes about El Cid but you can be sure this wouldn’t have happened there.

You moved in knowing there was a no dog policy and no security cams but you’re going to demand them?
I agree that thieves suck. I had my whole vehicle with my purse and checkbook in it stolen. Then they wrote about $3k worth of checks on my account

You didn't have anything worth stealing. Sorry man. I'll fix your lock.

How were they able to forge your signature? That sounds like an inside job.
Posted on 1/17/19 at 7:11 pm to OysterPoBoy
It looked nothing like my signature and I let my Bank know how stupid I thought it was that they paid them
They looked like they were signed by a man. Plus my legal signature is my middle name and they used my first

Make sure if you had spare keys, they are still there.

You can bet that bodily fluids were added to your pantry and refrigerator contents.

I’m not a pet person and I figured the area was pretty safe. It’s a pretty large complex of condos where people come and go throughout the day.

Good call. Fortunately, we don’t have any spares.

Man, I am sorry to hear that. I had my door kicked in and stuff stolen a few years back...I was surprised how vulnerable it made me feel in my own house. I still feel it to this day, too.

They put your toothbrush in their butt and left

Thieves need to be shot on the spot everytime. No excuse for doing something like that. just worthless trash
