Weather station, I'm assuming on an oil platform reporting sustained 92 gusts 110.
Note, that's elevated at 100'.

Eugene Island 25

Edit, just noticed the time on it, that was back around noon, SIAP.

That's more of an indictment on modern America than this storm. We live in sad times, indeed.

What's that, roughly 4 hours until landfall?

Yeah, I think technical landfall is half the eye but I never remember.

IDC about landfall as much as I care about when the shite will get real here.

why do people keep asking this?
Reminds me of the Rodney Dangerfield line where he said, "My wife and I had sex last night. I asked her if she had an orgasm. She said, 'Why do men keep asking me that?'"

Satellite at 11:07 AM (peak satellite appearance)

2 hours later at 1:07 PM (less purple/dark blue = warming cloudtops = weakening as a hurricane)

For those not trolling-

The longest TD threads are thousands of pages. Not <350.

Did recon tap out? Teal71 was flying into it then said peace. NHC doesn't want to find out it's weaker than 90 mph?

Recon is still in the storm but Tropical Tidbits graph is not showing it properly.

They just measured winds around 72kt and pressure around 976mb.

Right. I was just going with the "drink every time you hear 'hunker down'" chestnut.

Lower tops and a less potent eye wall makes me think winds are coming down. We'll see if NHC has the stones to drop it from 90 mph leading up to landfall.

Did it speed up significantly? I swear earlier this morning they were talking about landfall around 7-8pm

They had it inland by 7pm - there was never really an interval that was right at the coast.

People hate the NHC for being off 10-15 miles on their 12/24h intervals, imagine if they started doing hourly ones.
