I'm not sure how much to use the weather channel app, but for the past 24 hours it's been fairly consistent in predicting 30-35mph winds and 45-55mph gusts from 6p-12a tonight.

Just now it updated the 11pm forecast to have 46mph winds + 74mph gusts. Is that simply an indication of when the eyewall is expected to roll through?

Was just wondering why the change at that time specifically.

A tree already took out the power on Evangeline in Montz w/ pretty much no wind.

Reed is definitely a fear porn monger. sucks because I enjoy watching his live streams (on mute though)

He kind of has to be. Unfortunately, you get buried by the algorithm if you don't.

The difference between Reed and a lot of other chasers is that he has the legitimate meteorological chops that you have to respect and listen to. The other is just window dressing driven by the fact that he's funded 100% by YouTube/social media.

ETA: When it comes to severe/tornadic storms there are few who can match his work on radar. He just has a feel for it.

Most people probably don’t realize how true this is. I routinely take out pine trees on my land with my tractor. It is a LOT easier to push them right over on moist ground.

I’m probably in La La Land here, but I always had the feeling that Entergy affirmatively shuts off the power right before these storms hit; for safety reasons in case of dangling live wires. I don’t even know if they have the “power” to do that. But it seems like the power goes off when the winds aren’t that bad yet.

Waterford 3 Nuke plant in Hahnville does a controlled shut down when sustained winds reach 74 mph or gusts hit 140 mph. Bye bye 1,250 MW off the grid

Sad that we are 6 hours out and still have nothing definitive.

It's going to rain for like the next 12 hours. Stop watching the news

Not sure where you are but that is plausible.

To be clear, you're complaining that you're not getting hit hard yet?

Does Gonzales need to worry about Tornadoes or is that really only for places further out from the eye?

Borderline yes, we are in the tornado watch area.
