I-12 from LSU East expect traffic to be heavy. 1 1/2 hours for my son to make it to Hammond.
So he evacuated from Baton Rouge to Hammond to get away from the storm??

Did they move the expected landfall up or is it still tomorrow 7pm?

It was 150 mph also, my point is Laura was stronger than Katrina

It’s weird like that. It all depends on the characteristics of the storm itself. My Dad’s generation says Betsy was the worst thing they’ve ever seen in their life, and it made landfall as a category three.

Is being on a certain side of it really worse than the other?

He’s on his way to our camp in Alabama. He’s out until Monday. Left at 5 and just made it to Hammond.

Yes. Depending on the storm sometimes when you're on west side it's like you don't even notice the impacts.

Depends exactly where it makes landfall but 7pm between St. Mary and Terrebonne parish seems to be the consensus.

Yes, depending on the structure and forward motion of the storm.

Something I didn't know until a few years ago was that the forward motion should be added/subtracted to the storm relative winds. See the image below that was created on a potato:
