This one doesn't seem like it is gonna have the arse that Ida had, though. Thankfully.

OTR @OTR444 Tropical Storm Francine could impact up to 5.8 mbpd of refining capacity along the U.S. Gulf Coast this week. Producers have shut in 0.4 mbpd of crude output in anticipation of the storm.

quote:

Who? Not a single refinery in LA has shut down or plans on shutting down ahead of the storm. Plenty of chem plants are shutting down but no refineries. I’ll say the one exception is Valero MX is entering a TAR but that has been planned

The comment about 400k barrels of production already shut in is referring to upstream production, presumably offshore. Which shouldn’t be a surprise at all.

The comment about 5.8 million barrels of refining capacity potentially being affected is silly, I would even say absurd. Louisiana as a whole represents about 3 million barrels of refining capacity. Mississippi is another ~400k. The storm would have to shut down every refinery in LA and MS plus like 30+% of TX to take 5.8 million barrels of capacity offline.

They're wishcasting so hard for this thing to get going on storm2k. Their disappointment that it hasn't so far is palpable. If any of you storm2kers are reading this, we see you.

Is this straight doomcasting?

The 18z models are pretty consistent that the Cat 2 isn't even shown on the axis anymore:

Dang, I don't know why I can't link the image.

Edit: Got it.

Should I leave tonight from Slidell headed to Central/East MS or can I push it to 6:30 in the morning?
