The vitriol directed at contractors here is a bit much i think.

It's amazing the reps builders like D.R. Horton have yet they still sell thousands of homes per year. Why is that? Because people aren't willing to pay for the better builders that do exist

Unfortunately most of the newer homes in Livingston Parish are DR Horton or equally low-quality homes. People buy them because they want the high ceilings and large bathrooms. They don't care that their home looks exactly like all their neighbors homes, or that they have no privacy, or that the quality is bad. They just care that it has bling on the inside because they fantasize about how impressed people will be when they invite them over for entertaining, which never happens.

And?

The people that bitch about builders are buying POS specs from builders that are known to have horrible reps. Every industry is the same in that "you get what you pay for" as I said.

The hyperbole is lumping EVERY contractor into that group when that isn't the case and the ignorance is buying a POS spec from a shite builder then bitching about all contractors being crooks.

Back when I built houses, DR Horton was the big player with their own financing arm that lent money to pretty much anyone with a pulse. Even if they happened to make the occasional decent house, the neighborhood was always filled with buyers that were barely making the note.
