Longer video but if you have 7 minutes to spare quite interesting. If nothing else skip to about the halfway mark when he talks about why a set of tires costs $50,000.
Oh, and the tires have to be replaced every 5 years, regardless of mileage.
Good youtube channel also if you like cars.

$50,000 for tires? Please. Hammertime could find suitable rubber for $900.00 a set, tops.

I think you could go down to Central America, harvest your own rubber, create a mold, recycle you own steel, and still come in under 50k for 4 tires.
But, I digress.
I once remember hearing a rich old dude in Mansfield complaining about his Porsche. Similar problems. Cost a lot to fix.

For those commenting about the 50k tires meationed in the OP but not watching the video:
It isn't 50k to buy tires.
Its 50k for the process of changing a tire: Its not just a simple rebalance.
Its a few grand for the tires.
Then some more to ship it to the BMW factory.
Then some more to rent out a race track.
More to hire a driver.
More to have an ambulance on standby for the driver.
More for the liability insurance on the driver and car.
More for the liability insurance for the track.
More for the staff of mechanics and technicians to re tune the car.

Got a new set of Kelly can't slips on mine for $1200 out the door at Plantation Tire. Handles like a dream.

That Tom Cruise story about overnighting a car for his M3 premier, was insane.

It’s gotta be some kind of certification thing.
They have records of everything, and if you don’t replace something on the proper time table, you lose something. Maybe something as severe as them certifying the resale.

All those Supercars are crazy with up keep. The Bugatti Veyron is probably the highest with maintenance costs. Don't think I'll ever have to worry about it though.
