I never got a chance to meet him. I met Mary Landrieu, Buddy Roemer, Clyde Holloway, Richard Baker, and I think Fox McKeithen, but never EWE.
He's the one politician I've always wanted to me and talk with.

I will tell you this. Back in 1992 running up to Andrew there was a flood control gate that was not up to snuff. When he was made aware of it. He was on the phone to the Orleans Levee Board telling the Head that if he liked his job, that gate would be working in 6 hours. That gate was working within 3 hours. He might have been corrupt, but incompetent was never a word I would put in the same paragraph with Edwin Edwards.
He could get things done and he could work the capital when Dems were the only party though with factions and wings. His downfall was Oil prices as it is for all Louisiana Governors. When gas prices are high you can spend money or cut taxes and that is what Democrats and Republicans do in LA respectively. The problem is when they go down and then the bills come due.
LA cannot go on being a petrostate, but no Governor or any LA politician wants to do that.

He had a photographic memory for people, places andd events. I went to his book signing a few years ago when he was well past 80. He did an impromptu 30 minute Q&A with the audience and was very sharp. When he signed my book i introduced myself by name and mentioned meeting him when I was a teenager. He recalled the event in detail.

My SIL ended up in hospice and it was terrible… they had her on so much morifine she could not really even function.. but all of a sudden in the middle of the night she sat up in her bed talking about all sorts of crazy shite….. everyone is different and I would just rather die than be pumped full of drugs just to keep me breathing for a few days… what good does that do…

Statute in front of the courthouse in Crowley.

I never once voted for him. In 1992 I was in SoCal and opted not to vote absentee in the runoff.

Ts there really a statute of him in Crowley? That would amaze me, and many many others.

That sounds extremely reminiscent of how Mepergan affected me. Demerol is similar.

yeah like nursing homes sending people to hospice for multiple UTI's that should have been prevented to begin with by the nursing home.
In addition to that, having protein malnutrition due to the UTI and sepsis and them making sure they starve and dehydrate to death.

Damn, baw. You a classic yourself!
Heard the F4 was like flying a brick. But all the pilots who flew them also seem to have loved it.
