Stop Thief is one of my all time favorites. Still around on Ebay for about $50. One of the first uses of electronics in a board game too.

We used to love this one when I was a kid. They've updated it as "Survive: Escape from Atlantis," and it's still in print.

Stratego, the Ole surround some low level pawn with bombs to make my opponent believe the flag is there maneuver worked well for me many a time.

Risk.

We used to wage epic battles that made the struggle between Kramer and Newman look like a picnic.

I don't really see "Clue" or "Stratego" as "forgotten" board games, though. There are TONS of people who still love to play Clue, and Stratego is available in multiple printings and formats.

Incidentally, once you figure out the "secret formula" for Stratego, you'll never play it again.

My brother used to kick my arse in that game over and over until someone showed me the trick to it.

I played the hell out of this as a kid. Dad had to buy extra rubber bands cause we kept wearing them out.

However it was recently re-released as Boxcars, a valiant attempt at recreating it.
