re: Forearm pain after bicep workout

yeah, I did...I dropped my weight almost in half and focused on simply curling up with my biceps and not having to engage my forearm to help bring the curl "over the top" if that make any sense. No issue after dropping the weight down and I find that it's helped me more because I'm actually using the proper muscle now instead of getting it up by any means necessary.

Pinky side of flexor side? If so likely weak grip strength leading to that being the weakest link in the chain and getting strained.

Why are you doing isolated bicep workouts?
It's a tendon problem.
Toughen up.

Like another poster said, shin splints in the forearms. You can get compression sleeves for your forearms that help

OP forgot he was a doctor. OP has abandoned thread

You probably hyperextended your palmaris longus. You can counteract this by working the antagonist muscle of the biceps.

if its what I am thinking, its like shin splints. lighten the weight and concentrate on form and negative portion of the lift.
SFP yours sounds like a ligament thing. Lower the weight and the frequency/volume. take your time to strengthen ligaments as they tend to progress slower than the actual muscle.

I went to PT and that's what they diagnosed me with as well. The pain was directly coming from the bicep curl movement. I would get the pain doing other things as well that required tension like moving heavy objects around my house, carry large amounts of groceries or even pulling a towel tight around my waist. I still have it even after I quick lifting. It sucks for sure

Not a doctor but I had a similar issue before. Your ulnar nerve could be entrapped at the elbow. This causes pain in the forearm and also numbness in the pinky and ring fingers. If you don't have the numbness, may not be that.

Recall from gross anatomy that though the brachioradialis travels in the extensor compartment, it is a flexor at the elbow and has supination and pronation functions of the forearm. This muscle is targeted heavily in hammer curls. Assuming anatomical position, palpate on the posterior lateral aspect of the forearm, and massage that bad boy real nice like. Ya welcome

Yes and it has held me back from much larger gains in bicep development. It is like the forearm gives out way before the bicep and the pain makes me stop.

It means you need to lighten the weight for your bicep lifts or focus more on the forearms in order to "catch them up".
It's akin to shin splints in your legs - the little muscle attachments are getting pulled off/away from the bne - that's why it's so painful.
On the brightside, I bet your biceps are bigger than they've ever been if you're having this problem. Enjoy your gains and focus on legs/shoulders while you heal up

All this. I had similiar happen to me. Broke my right hand and had to use a wrist hook to help hold my weights for curls until my hand healed. I started getting " arm splints" until I could get the muscles in my forearms back caught up to the rest of my arm muscles. I suffer from shin splints so I immediately recognized the pain.
