I travel a lot as well, and the impalas are pieces of shite. Most of them are LTs or LS and not LTZ. The new Maxima and the 300 are what I hope for. Always makes the week better when it's a nicer car. Hertz gold choice is a joke compared to national executive aisle.

The. Dodge Charger is a badass car and could be cutting into the Mustang sales.

They are both full size cars, so there's that.
It's more than that. It seriously looks just like a Taurus minus the very front clip, because that's what it is. It's an ugly, ill-proportioned mistake. Ford makes some good stuff; I'm not here to hate on the brand in general, but the Taurus and this new Continental that's based on it are bad cars.

They don't really offer a 4cyl mustang do they? I mean I drive a 4 but if/when I get a muscle car it needs muscle. Even the V6 Mustang is pretty pedestrian - those are heavy cars meant to have 8.

I disagree. The new ones are very comfortable, have a good infotainment system, big nav screen, decent visibility, and plenty of power. I even like the styling. Easily my favorite full sized car right now.
My least favorite is either the Taurus or the previous generation Malibu with the squarish tail lights. Both of those are still better than being stuck with a minivan.

The new Impalas are real nice cars....

I travel a lot for work. The Altima is a pleasant rental. Most of them are stripped down though. Not a fan of the CVT. The newer Impala is not very common with National yet, but the one that I did rent a few months ago was loaded and I liked it a lot. Maybe my favorite sedan in that class right now.
I'm a National guy too. My take on which car to get depends on the trim level. The Impala LTZ is a nice get. I like the Altima in general, for a rental, but not as much as Camry. I've had a pretty decently outfitted 300 and enjoyed it, though I'd never actually buy one because Chrysler has terrible quality and reliability. I abhor Malibus and lower trim Impalas, and just have never ever understood the Taurus because it looks like a big car but inside it is small and laid out weird and is unpleasant to drive. Fusion > Taurus even though Taurus was intended by Ford to be the more expensive/better/bigger car.

I find them very cramped for such a massive car, and they seem to feature MASSIVE blind spots. Just a bad design all around.

The new design Kia Optima is a very nice car in the mid 20's. It's 2.4 liter 4cyl, put has some great power for a bigger car. It's a comparable car to the hideous looking Accords Honda has come out with. The Camary is way overpriced just because of its name.

Probably explains the steep decline in Mustang buyers who are black

My daughter rented one for about two weeks. I drove it a couple times and liked it.

The Camrys don't bother me. I get the Sonata sometimes and I like it okay. It's usually the cheaper model though.
I have never encountered an Accord rental. I own a 2013 model. It's a very good design in terms of driving dynamics, space efficiency, and visibility. Unfortunately the road noise and paint/finish quality are very annoying. I'm not sure I'd buy one again.
I'm not a big fan of the direction Honda is taking with the recent styling changes they've made to the Accord.

The thing about a Honda is the great engines they build. I have an 1989 prelude that runs like a top with 200,000 miles on it. But the new design of the Accord plus the price of them is s huge turn off for me.

i agree. co worker has a white gt. she let me take it out to lunch it wasn't bad.
problem is people that used to buy the gt now are truck people.
and they should never make one without a v8. its sinister

The new Camaro is putting the dick on the Mustang.

4 engine options.
Shelby 5.2L V8
GT 5.0L V8
3.7L 6-cyl
2.3L 4-cyl with Ecoboost
Ellis Hugh sucked.

It's a turbocharged 2.3L 4-cylinder that makes more power than a Mustang GT did 10 years ago. Also, today Ford released an optional factory power pack for that engine that pushes power to 335 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque, which is just 10 less torque than the 5.0 V8 in the current Mustang GT.
