First up is the safety recall for 2011-2013 model year Ford F-150s. A total of 1.48 million of the full-size trucks are involved with about 1.26 million in the US and 221,000 in Canada. Ford claims these F-150s are all equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission that may experience an intermittent loss of the transmission output speed sensor signal to the powertrain control module. This could result in a temporary and unintended downshift into first gear. Given that speed plays a role here, the downshift without warning could lead to a loss of vehicle control. There have already been five accident reports, one of which involved "whiplash.” Dealers will replace the powertrain control module.

Next up is the 2017-2019 Lincoln Continental, the vehicle whose future could be in question. The issue here is the door latch. Ford says about 27,000 Lincoln Continentals in the US and 1,200 in Canada may have a door latch motor that may malfunction and not fully engage due to a buildup of silicon contamination. It’s also possible the door could open while driving.
