re: For wrestling fans: SJW attacks WWE (TLDR)

No shite.
Outside of hot lesbians, any LGBTQS storylines will be ratings killers. The target demo is young males (12+ & 18-25, anything else is gravy) and this demo is not attracted to nor has any desire to see something like this.

Not only do these quotas need to take hold in the ring, they need to be representative of crew and creative members.
When you make diversity for every fringe group a priority in hiring instead of work product, you get a watered-down, overly-homogenized product that in the end appeals primarily only to those small groups.
This is nothing but a case of "the world isn't fair because it isn't like me" pissing and moaning in a vain attempt to change the majority to fit the whims of a very, very small minority.
Ignore that rabble and move on.

Anyone remember when xpac dressed in blackface as mark Henry? WWE used to be ballsy as hell

How would they respond to the tag team the Gangsters gimmick in Smokey Mountain Wrestling of being able to win a match with just a two count, due to affirmative action?

Different era, people werent as sensitive. Plus, WWF had not gone public at that point
Eta: ehhh nm they did some pretty raunchy stuff after going public

That was a great segment. Remember when they had the Mexican tag team that would come out on riding lawnmowers? Or how Eddie Guerrero would lie, cheat, and steal to win? Or Crime Time? WWE's racist gimmicks were always great.

I keep thinking I will see some SJW protest WWE because Rich Swan dances.

How could I forget about the white boy challenge, featuring Lafayette's own Rodney Mack. What a great story that was. LINK

Old white guys who haven’t wrestled in the better part of a decade, such as Goldberg and Shane McMahon
Because WWE is trying to keep/bring back fans from 15-20 years ago when pro wrestling was at its peak popularity.
quote:
Stephanie McMahon proclaimed that WWE would begin incorporating LGBTQIA+ representation into its storylines but we are yet to see it materialize
Because someone with brains realized that WWE's primary audience is young, straight males and that by pandering to 1% of the audience with an LGBT story line, they'd likely cause a HUGE segment of their audience to change the channel or not buy tickets to live events.

promising black superstars such as Apollo Crews, Titus O’Neil and Darren Young languish on Superstars and Main Event.
New Day? Booker T? Hell, the Rock was one of the top WWE draws of all time and would be the #1 draw today if he decided to stop making movies and go back to wrestling full time.

I would have hated to fight Ron Simmons in his prime.

Titus is horrible
And I don't even see enough of Darren Young to know if he's good or not to be honest.
Apollo Crews just has zero charisma. Part of that is booking, but damn, I've never been so bored watching someone so athletic.
The New Day is as over as can be, and I'm pretty excited to see what they do now that they've finally dropped the belts.
In short, I don't understand this argument. Shocking, I know.

I used to work with Rodney, Jazz, and JYD
And there have been plenty of black titleholders in WWE...
In addition to others already named...
Shelton Benjamin
Tony Atlas
Rocky Johnson
Marc Mero
Ron Simmons
Mark Henry
The Godfather
Men on a Mission
Bobby Lashley
MVP
Ezekiel Jackson
Ahmed Johnson
D-Von Dudley
D-Lo Brown
All held titles in WWE -- and that's just off the top of my head

This is the most ignorant shite I have ever read.

Diversify - (verb) to stop awarding positions based on merit and begin awarding positions based on race, sex, or orientation, regardless of merit

The Rock is half-black and he's one of the Top 5 all-time in WWE in my opinion... some would even argue #1 (I have him at #4).

Not to mention Woods started his own YouTube channel which now has over 900,000 subscribers.
The WWE gives opportunities to a lot of people, but is absolutely necessary for that individual to make the most of it and get themselves over.
One of the biggest stars today that the WWE has forced down people's throats has been Roman Reigns, of Samoan decent. And his cousins are like two time tag team of the year.
One of the most over women and former women's champ Sasha Banks is half black and the current NXT champ and NXT women's champ are Japanese.
Sorry, but promos like this don't cut it.

The sad part is that Titus is such a good guy in real life. He went to the funeral and spoke at the funeral of a kid who died of cancer in Charlotte (with really no fanfare/self promotion). I'm hoping he can find a good gimmick and get over.

Titus just looks like a deer in the headlights when he's on his own.
