I know several people that grew up in north LA, that moved to south LA to go to school, work and raise a family. I know zero people who voluntarily chose to move to north LA to settle and raise a family from south LA.

That’s because the jobs are opportunities are all in South LA. If North LA had a lot of good jobs and opportunities to make good money, people wouldn’t leave it.

They leave because they have to. Not because they want to.

Blame the state for the lack of economy in the Northern half. Everything has to be done in the I-10 corridor for whatever reason. The gap shouldn’t be as wide as it is.

Cajuns are defensive of its cuisine because they appropriated it from the African slaves.

that’s ironic - I’ve had this same thing with some people from north Louisiana

Except they usually lie about the drinking part because of whatever church they go to.

I have been to / through Shreveport 5 times in my life. No vibe, beauty, attractions, uniqueness, differentiating qualities at all. What did I miss?

You are right and you didn’t miss anything. But that’s my point. Same can be said about Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. Other than a higher number of quality eating joints it’s the same shite we have up here.

NLA is poor because the tax money we send to Baton Rouge stays down south. And the state is last in every good metric because of the crooked politicians elected by coonasses. Trust me, I'd rather be in TX.

There is just something about south Louisiana that no other state in the country has. Almost every state has north Louisiana in it. It’s just that simple.

(No endearing qualities)

When you liken Shreveport and New Orleans in “endearing qualities”, it may be time for neurologist appt.

I don’t have time to post the many cases in point. Will keep to just 3.

1. I travel around the Americas and world for my job. I work for IOC. New Orleans is an international favorite place to be by people from around the world. Its spirit of life vibe, unique, quirky and slow pace is wonderful to many. Just take the BA 224/225 flight Nola to/from London alone. Sit on that flight and meet the people. Ask them why they are on that flight. I would not mention Shreveport.

2. If you ever go to Jazz Fest, sit in blues tent towards the front rows. Strike up a conversation with anyone about what they think of New Orleans. Just listen. If you don’t find someone who has been to every Jazz Fest for last 30-years, you are in the wrong city. Ask them why the come to New Orleans.
If you want to skip the Fest, meet them after dark at the Rock n Bowl. Ask them.

3. Find your way to Commanders Palace on 3rd St in the Garden District for lunch. Get that table upstairs and celebrate something. Wait for the owner to come by your table. Look in her eyes and listen to what she is about. Tell me you don’t see or feel anything unique and special about her sense of that place.

Bonus - go to Parkway Tavern. Get yourself a poboy and paper towels ready to soak up the deliciousness that drips from that place. I am not talking just about the food. Ask the families to your left and right why they are there. Listen to them. What are they about.

The people, place and spirit and a cocktail of many other unique flavors of life billow from that city. If you don’t feel it, probably best to stay in Shreveport / elsewhere. Thats ok.

I could go on and on.

No we don’t. That’s as stupid and wrong as when black folks say white people don’t season their food or put raisins in their potato salad.

Not trying to make the point that it’s the same. Just pointing out how stupid it is say anything above I-10’isnt really Louisiana.

I just wish everyone would learn to appreciate both sides. Both regions contribute to the overall fabric that makes Louisiana special.

Agreed. There are plenty of things in NLa that have contributed to what makes up our state as a whole. Louisiana Hayride and Ledbelly’s influence on blues for example. Another would be how the timber industry and cotton industry were every bit as important to the state as rice, sugarcane, and shrimp.

Holy heck dude it’s really not that serious lol

Just take a deep breath and don’t let the little things affect you.

And for the record I’m a central Louisiana native so I’m caught right in the middle of this dick measuring contest between North and South Louisiana
