You think being gay is a mental illness?
I persinnaly believe it's a mental illness in the same way a weird fetish (balloons, feet, etc) is a mental illness.
My faith (Catholicism) is against gay marriage because marriage is for a man and a woman and procreation. However, being gay is not a sin but engaging in extramarital sex is, just like unmarried straight people engaging in extramarital sex. I do believe fundamentalist Christians are ridiculous and go full retard on the gay issue. (And other issues - young earth anyone?)
My thoughts are that I don't know if one is born gay, but it is sinful to engage in extramarital sex. There are several gay Catholics I know who strive to be celibate.

You know...world views change on a dime these days. What exactly are we protecting our kids from?
I come from a very large, very Catholic, very traditional southern family.
I have children ages 1-13. In the past four years they have seen a cousin marry his partner of five years, another cousin get engaged to her partner of six years. We celebrated the hell out of both events.
I get that it might not be a part of everyone's lives...
but for me...
frick it...be happy....complaining because people digging each other and falling in love with the same sex....and it being represented in media...We've all got bigger things on a day to day basis than people enjoying life for a change.

I remember when those soldiers went to jail for making the Guantanamo prisoners watch Disney movies. Apparently it turned them gay, and those were adult lifelong terrorists
Imagine what watching Disney could do to a kid

Scissoring should be shown instead of Kissing in Frozen 2!

I personally think Christianity is promulgated by brain washing. But I don't believe in any rules that would stop you from believing in a fairy tale.

Regardless, would you prefer their first introduction to it to be in a controlled environment where you can have a discussion and answer questions afterwords or would you prefer that they stumble across it on their own?
If you don't want to see the movie that's obviously your right but you won't always be around to shelter them from truths you find unpleasant or immoral.

Religion, Catholicism specifically, is the greatest fairytale to be ever be told. The lengths one has to go to suspend all disbelief is mind boggling.

Meh....Christianity is founded on the basis of belief in a being who taught that we should expand our compassion, love our neighbors, celebrate the gifts of life bestowed upon us by a divine creator and basically follow some basic moral guidelines to help you be a good person.
The teachings of Christ, for me, encouraged expansion of thought, not brainwashing.
People see zealots and lump us all into one pot when there are so many more examples of Christians actually being progressive.

I think Catholicism does a bad job with addressing and handling "gay". We all know the gigantic elephant in the room here.

Fricking this. Golden Rule. The world would be an awesome place if more people just strived to act how they would like to be treated.

So worst case scenario, you have to have a five minute conversation with your child and explain that some women love women and some men love men?
I'm so sorry, prayers sent.

If anything it will be subtle.
Disney loves money a whole lot more than it does it’s social issues. They’re not gonna hurt their golden goose by overly politicizing it.
