Dumb. Lady Liberty is a specific character.
Why not just do Harriet Tubman if you want to celebrate diversity?

They should just get it over with and put a Jew on there.

The irony is not lost on me that, with this $100 "black woman" coin, you could wreck a Denny's.

Oh you could do a lot better than that. The thing is made out of solid 24kt Gold. Will probably go for around $1200-$1300.

I'm surprised they didn't use Michelle Obama's image.

Can I buy them on my credit card, deposit them into my bank, and then pay off my credit card with the money deposited?

They cannot put someone on a coin who has repeatedly said how ashamed of this country she is.

Personally, I would have preferred someone like Tina Turner.

Who cares? I wish things like this weren't news. The more we keep talking about race when it's unnecessary the more we perpetuate the divide and push ourselves further away from each other.
Now obviously injustices and outright blatant racism should be addressed (from ALL sides of the spectrum, not just coming from whites). And don't get me wrong, I think this is cool and something to be proud of. But to make such a big deal out of something so insignificant and ultimately meaningles just makes me sick. It affects nobodies life. Keep doing things like this, but to put it on such a high pedestal just does more harm than good IMO.

Yep, Libertad, Roman goddess of liberty, was the model for Bartholdi's statue.
An Egyptian peasant woman and an American Indian were initially proposed for the Statue of Liberty but rejected.
