Food challenge for the O-T

For the past 3 years I have not ordered at any restaurant where English is the first language. So with the exception of Tex-Mex, Chinese, Japanese, and Indian restaurants, if I dine in I tell the wait staff to surprise me. I did this this morning as usual and just finished the best meal I've ever eaten for breakfast in my life! I started this to try new things because I am very picky and it has opened a whole new world of foods that I would not have ordered myself. I haven't been able to convince any family or friends to try it, so is there anyone from the O-T brave enough to try it?

This is incredibly pointless and ridiculous.

Do they ever stick you with the most expensive thing on the menu??
I don't do this, but I do often ask the server what their favorite thing on the menu is, especially if it's somewhere I have never been before.
Also, when traveling, I make every effort to eat at a local place. I do everything I can to avoid chains when I am traveling. I'll ask an employee of the hotel (not the front desk or the concierge as often they are paid to say certain places), or I'll ask the guy at the gas station, or someone at a place I'm visiting, where they like to go eat.
9 times out of 10, it turns out to be a great meal. The latest was a few weeks ago, when I was in Palestine, Texas for the day, and I had the most amazing lunch at a little Italian place, and for a family of four we ate like pigs for like 30 bucks.

Very few times have they picked the most expensive thing. I usually get either there favorite menu item, a customized menu that has good add ons, or something not even on the menu that has been made up by the employees because they are tired of eating the same crap every day.

You sound like a really interesting person. Much more interesting than the average American dullard. I don't watch television, we should hang out.

Local places are always better than the chain restaurants too.

used to do that in Brazil all the time --after I'd gotten to know the head waiter very well

This is easy to do when you still live with your mother Randy.

I'd rather try a regular food challenge because I'm an American
