I’d have laughed at that before I became old enough to have knees that click when I run.

Now the smaller cities aren’t so bad. Between the two I would prefer Baton Rouge because it’s closer to a lot of other amenities. But Shreveport is not really the hell on earth that the OT drama queens make it out to be. It at least beats the hell out of Beaumont, Alexandria, Montgomery, or Jackson. I know a few folks from south Louisiana that moved up there and didn’t hate it.

We need to get Hyundai to open up shop in the old Hummer plant.

I work on the NW side of Shreveport every day. It’s almost apocalyptic.

It’s a feature of the post-modern influence on our society.

It’s all too easy to nitpick, throw stones, or tear down. It takes vision, fortitude, and wisdom to build up something good, to be thankful for blessings, and to take honest stock of both the good and the bad.

The OT would complain about paradise.

I’m not saying Shreveport is great, or anything specific about Shreveport at all. I’ve only ever passed Shreveport by on the interstate and have no opinion of the place whatsoever.

I have no desire to live in a big city ever again and it gets less with each passing year.

And for good reason... every shite hole still has some nice areas. Overall, Shreve is a shite hole.

If I could live anywhere besides Baton Rouge, it would be in any particular order lafayette, Natchitoches, ruston (small town feel), mandeville or Covington. Shreveport isn’t that bad - it doesn’t have the traffic issues that Baton Rouge has except for Youree. You can get anywhere you want in about 20 minutes

My wife is from Bossier and I from Lafayette. We are building our forever home in Broussard, La now and plan to move back in Spring.

We left La after college and have bounced between Texas and Illinois. We decided to go back home to retire and looked at the best places for retire in La.

Our list was initially Mandeville, Shreveport and Lafayette. We ruled out Mandeville due to pricing and proximity to family. We eventually chose Lafayette/Broussard over Shreveport/Bossier but it wasn't a slam dunk.

Shreveport has a better cost of living but we couldn't find a spot we really liked. Eventually we decide on the Lafayette area due to my family (I have more than she does) and my dad is living out a life with alzheimers.

Shreveport is not a bad spot when compared to BR, NOLA, Monroe or Lake Chuck.

And for good reason...

Most of Shreveport is no different than NO or BR.

It just doesn't have the old money it once had.
