You may be able to live a healthy life being a vegan, but its not natural at all, and its kind of an elitist attitude to think you are above the natural order of things.

Pro wrestler Daniel Bryan was vegan and it had nothing to do with any moral code. He was having stomach problems and a doctor recommended he try a vegan diet and it improved his health. Dude is in better shape than anyone who posts here.

There are vegans who eat a vegan diet for health reasons. Not every vegan is done holier than thou activist.

Wtf does being vegan have to do with this? The kid died because he hadn’t eaten in a week.

Thank you for giving an example to validate my post; that you can live a healthy life as a vegan.

This has nothing to do with being vegan. This has everything to do with being horrible parents. The child hadn’t eaten anything in a week.

This is the part that puzzles you in all of this? Kids can teethe for up to 2 years. Some even go 26-28 months.

If you want to be vegan then, by all means, have at it. However, the only way you can live a fully vegan lifestyle is if you have year-round access to fruit and vegetables and vitamin supplements. Like was said above veganism is not a natural state of being for humans and in a situation where you do not have access to 1st world imported veggies and fruits and vitamins then you will not survive long term. The thing about meat is it is quite dense in calories and protein along with a number of vitamins and minerals that our body needs. This is extremely difficult if not impossible to achieve in countries that do not have year-round imported foods and vitamins.

I chose to eat meat and use all types of animal products but I also grow a lot of my own veggies and fruits here on the homestead. I raise chickens for meat and eggs and have raised rabbits and pigs as well. I fish and even do some varmint trapping and shooting now and again(BBQ raccoon is very good). I cannot even imagine having to survive on only what fruit and veggies that I can grow. It wouldn't be too difficult in the spring and parts of summer but during the dog days of late July and August and the winter months getting enough calories would be very hard to do without using meat, eggs, fish, etc.

Do Vegans believe in God, religion, and an after life? Honest question? I would say most I have met don’t. Therefore, who are they trying to do good for? Themselves? Why are so many trying to convince others to live their same way?

I’m not overly religious myself, I just find it pretty laughable that many of them are completely against organized religion yet believe in living this “sensitive” life being kind to nature and animals. If you don’t think there’s a God or afterlife, there’s no reason to live every day trying to impress.

Animals are going to die sometime, if we as humans don’t kill them to harvest their body then their death is more likely to be more stressful and painful. This whole idea that we should not harvest their eggs or milk or that letting them live is better for them, is far from true.

I was vegan for three years. Lost half my body weight. Staying healthy on such a diet requires vigilance, money and doctor visits. Blood tests are a must. I would bet iron deficiency was the biggest problem for this child. Vegetable based iron is highly inefficient and you have to either take a supplement or eat insane amounts of the right foods. You need blood tests to see if such a diet is causing other deficiencies.

With that being said, I do not think it is ever appropriate for an infant. You are rolling the dice with a human life because such a diet can cause issues that cannot be corrected.

To be fair the mother was breast feeding (still at 18 months btw), so that along with fruits and vegetables would likely be okay. Not great. Given that, if the mother was vegan you have to question if her breast milk was enough as it likely was not considering the kids weight.
