My high school didn't have proms when I graduated in the 70's. They were too worried about blacks and whites dancing together. We had a banquet instead. Just a meal a pictures with your date.

This woman is complaining that her co-worker who apparently attends work enough not to get fired, should be excused from school for absences related to a debilitating medical condition.
In a strange twist the woman championing her cause also has the same medical condition reportedly and somehow makes it to work enough to still be employed.

Has to be more to this story. If she has the grades to graduate and has a medical reason backed up with documentation from a doctor I see no reason why she shouldn't be able to attend the prom. Something just doesn't add up.
