Woman should have had more dog awareness - don't let the dog run out. I guarantee 25% or more of the posters here would have at least been nervous seeing that dog coming at them.

How do all the other workers in jobs that requires that require them to go house to house on foot manage to do without killing dogs, only the police have this issue. Even animal control officers manage to deal with dogs that are known problems without killing them.

Well most home service providers require that you put your dog up before they enter the premises

To be fair..They are actually equipped to deal with that situation.

He believed there to be a crime in progress and was investigating the scene. A dog exhibiting aggression charged him. He eliminated the threat quickly and effectively. His training worked.

Pull gun 1st and ask questions later. Sounds like the typical cop "training". He's a trigger happy a-hole that should have to work behind a desk for the rest of his career. He has no business being given the privilege of carrying a gun. But alas he will get a slap on the wrist and nothing will be done to him.

You know how many times I've been mocked charged while running? I guess I should have just shot everyone of those dogs and I guess I would have been completely justified in doing so according to some on here. Even if the dog never left its property.

I don't disagree. Hopefully, this won't get me banned but one problem is a lot of the black officers haven't been around dogs growing up and/or are scared of dogs.

As I posted before I was a paperboy on a bicycle in the 60s, dogs ran free in our small town, we were run at and chased by dogs on a daily basis, and it never entered our mind that our life was in danger. The mail carriers of that era experienced the same. I really don't believe dogs today are somehow more dangerous.

Anytime I open my front door I put them on a leash or close them up in the backyard. I never want to be in this situation. There is some blame to go on the homeowners for this no doubt. However frick that cop. Excessive force when there was no reason to shoot that dog.

I am sure they are at times uncomfortable when doing so. Cops on the other hand can under no circumstances experience discomfort. Once you have violated that the only way for them to reestablish comfort is to kill and how dare you criticize them for it

If that cop was still there when I got back with my shotgun I would have fricking gave him three seconds to run before I shot his arse like he did my dog.

Shut the frick up. You would not. If you did, you would be laying right next to the dog.

Wasn't alive then.. though in the 80's we had a few neighborhood dogs that were mean as hell , but we knew how to avoid them.. guess thats the same..

Tried to make that point earlier and got lampooned by the angry villagers ..

Maybe..With zero sounds it truly hard to make a determination on what went down..

It is a shitty situation for sure and could have been handled better.. But it is what it is

Right. We ran all over the neighborhood, jumped fences etc. Never got bit, much less mauled. I believe cops today have been trained to protect themselves at all cost and overreact in many situations.

Any other breed and I'm pissed off.

Pit bull? Meh, the less the better... if the shitty owners can't control him enough to open the damn front door he's mauling someone in the near future. What if that's not a cop but instead little Annie down the street selling Girl Scout cookies?

The cop is a piece of shite, him and the city should be liable to the dog owner for huge damages. What if a child was running behind that dog while the retard is firing 3 shots?

Funny you bring this up. While trying to kill their dog, police shoot 4 year old girl. LINK

quote:

A Columbus police officer accidentally wounded a 4-year-old girl in Whitehall on Friday when he fired at a charging dog, police said.

A neighbor and the girl’s uncle identified her as Ava Ellis, who was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where police said she was in stable condition.

quote:

Neighbors say the officer walked back to his patrol car after the shooting.

“He seemed a little disoriented, like he was really bothered,” said Norman Jones, who called the police after hearing the shot. Columbus and Whitehall police arrived at the scene shortly afterward.

Want to know what happened to the cop after he walked away and drove away and the neighbors had to call for an ambulance? Zero. Nada. Zilch.

So in answer to your question, nothing would have happened if the cop had shot a child behind the dog.
