Floor recommendations

We are moving to our new home later this week. We are trying to replace the carpet in the upstairs bedrooms for the kids. Remainder of the house has hardwoods. We were trying to get it done before moving in but Home Depot has been unreliable and we are looking for recommendations of someone else to use. Google hasn’t been all that helpful.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. Happy Father’s Day to all.

Gotta give more detail to get decent answers.....where are you located? How much flooring are we.talking about?

Are you looking to just buy the floor or do you want them to install it also? I just finished installing wood flooring at my house. It wasn't all that hard.

Maybe give us SOME sort of idea where you are located?

Sorry. Moving to Baton Rouge. We are talking 3 rooms and a hallway upstairs. It’s about 900 square feet of carpet.

I want it installed. I don’t have the time to do it myself.

Quickest and easiest would be those engineered floors that just snap-lock over your existing subfloor like what Pergo makes.
A good floor guy should be able to lay all that in a day, two at most if you have a lot of closets and trim needs to be installed.
It will also save time if you have already removed the carpet, padding and tack strips.

I would go with vinyl planks with throw rugs. Looks like wood, waterproof for the kids, and doesn't get nasty over the years like carpet.

Go to a true flooring reseller in BR, like Doug Ashey in Lafayette. Find the floor you like and they will have a list of top contractors who install in homes.
I have expensive flooring (wood) so that's how I went about it when one of my kids was old enough to take care of her flooring, so we took out the carpet.

New hybrid Sono flooring is where it's at.
It's a vinyl plank with a ceramic composite core. Best flooring on the market.

There are lots of good options but with two kids under 4 and plans for another we want to stick with carpet until they are older. The kids have managed to scratch my hardwoods in my current home all over the place and I’d rather put down reasonably priced carpet now and change it out in 10 years.

Get your husband to install it. It's not very hard to do

I had a rush job a few weeks ago and used Empire because they can get a job done in a matter of days.
I used the new vinyl flooring that looks like wood plank, and I like it.
Empire was expensive.

7mm or 8mm luxury vinyl plank.
It's waterproof, inexpensive, and cheap to install. And, it's hard to tell the difference between it and engineered hardwood. MUCH better than laminate and perfect for kid's rooms.
Home Depot will install it for $1.50-$2.50 per square foot depending upon how much work there is to remove old stuff and prep floors.

Vinyl is much tougher.
