First World Problem of the Day: Local CFA goes to three drive-thru lanes.

Went for lunch there today. Chic Fil A went from a single drive-thru lane to three at our local joint. Somewhat of a Charlie Foxtrot. Nobody knows who should get into the single pick-up lane next. People should be nice and take turns.

Mine has 4 full time people outside and two lanes. All the room they got. Like $16 for a meal now..

CFA recently tore down the location nearest me. They are going drive thru only. It has been only a couple of months from demolition to the walls going up. I would be surprised they are not operational in about 30 days from now.

I think the old CFA in Tuscaloosa used to have an overhead conveyor system to get food to the outside lane

They will eventually have you pull into one of 30-40 personalized "lanes" and just wait for your order to be brought out to you. It will revolutionize the fast food industry

They just finished building a new Wendy’s by me that will open soon.
Two drive thru lanes, and an exterior walk up window for delivery drivers / mobile food pickups. The inside dining area looks small.

I don’t know what goes into determining new locations, but CFA built a new restaurant in East Houma with double or triple the parking space of the MLK CFA, and a complete double covered Drive Thru lanes. They may have missed the mark on this location. It doesn’t look nearly as busy as the MLK location has stayed. Don’t know if the economy and Biden’s inflation is putting the price out of the reach of the East Houmians?

The economics on dual drive thru certainly check-out per my buddies dad who owned/operated some McDs, 3 is a lot but they move people thru there faster than anything I’ve seem in service industry.
I feel like the old chick fil a’s in the mall had better food. Now it’s just too buttery and has MsG out the wazoo. Maybe it’s just nostalgia, but used to taste good, now, not so much.

The express location they are testing in New York or Chicago is very interesting. Could definitely see that working in a lot of urban areas or high foot traffic areas with limited space.
