Dealers in Germany are owned by the manufacturers and there's not a lot of bullshite involved with getting a new car. Somehow they are able to get by.
Couldn’t car manufacturers start a subsidiary or separate company to handle car sales and service. And if a dealer is not living up to the standard of a brand, they manipulate the dealer in to selling to this subsidiary or they open a competing dealer down the street in the same market.
It is the same way with restaurants like McDonald’s. Except that McDonald’s owns the real estate and the “owner” leases the restaurant from McDonald’s and if the owner is not living up to McDonald’s standards they either get a new owner or a separate holding company buys it from the owner until it can be sold to new ownership.

Don't be afraid to look online at dealerships out of your area. I recently purchased a new truck from a dealership in the DFW area. We negotiated everything via email...I saved considerably - well worth the one way plane ticket, tank of gas, and a day of my time to save thousands of dollars.
This. Call big volume dealers in big cities and negotiate with the internet sales department. I’ve bought multiple cars from Grapevine and other places this way.

Do you research and car salesmen aren’t that bad.
I called a few dealerships and told them I wanted this car for X price. Can you do that? Y/N. Was at the dealership 2 hrs for paperwork. No upselling or haggling in person.

regardless of what they tell you, they are not going to sell the car at a loss
That's 100% false.
There are many reasons a dealer will sell a new vehicle at a loss.
The most common being flooring.
When the manufacturer's free flooring dries up, they now have to pay interest on that vehicle.
Pre dumbass rate increase that rate was in the 7s. I would imagine it is significantky higher now.
If a dealer starts hemorrhaging money through flooring, they are doomed. They'd rather lose a few thousand than lose quite a bit more over months as it sit there growing stale.

"Get a real job" has to be one of the most self-righteous statements ever.
That's right up there with, "My shite don't stink."

Only have owned one new car. 1998 Expedition. Ordered it to our specs from a dealer in Oklahoma. Had it delivered to LaMarque in Metairie. Paid cash.
I went to the dealer in Harahan at the time. Expeditions were really popular, then. Salesman told me onto Expedition gets out of here for less than 3k over sticker.
I am almost 67. I will probably buy a new suv in a couple of years if my wife’s Equus gives out

During my search I spent time negotiating with Grapevine Ford - it ended up not working out with them. I ended up purchasing from SouthWest Ford in Weatherford.

There is no way the salesman gets zero commission off of it.
Also false. There are certain units that a salesperson will get zero commission or spiff on.

I love that you assume I work in sales simply because I have a greater knowledge on a subject than you do.
Also... I likely spend more than your salary on just maintenance for my property. You broke bitch

You can get a brand new one for around $35k without tax credits and the process is very easy. They are great daily drivers. Instant torque, drive well in the rain, No oil changes, no transmission, no going to gas stations, and the regen brakes last a very long time. Just plug it in when you get home.
What is the to have a plug and all installed at your home? You don’t just plug it into an extension cord.
What is the insurance on one of these?
What if you live in an area that is prone to flooding at times?
What about power outages during storms?
How about after say 5 years or so when it is time for a new battery? What is the cost of that?
Nah I will stay with a IC engine

I have no idea on an ev, but about 6k for a low mileage junkyard motor installed in a truck.
