I bring it up repeatedly, because parents will dump tens of thousands of dollars a year into a sport that is never going to pay their kid's way through college. Golf? Volleyball? Maybe. Baseball, almost certainly not. Yet when there is a conversation about funding college, it's all about TOPS.

This coming from a dude that pays for half of dance fees for my kid, which is essentially a pre-sorority at pre-teen levels.

I'm referring to Lacrosse. But the behavior of many parents is embarrassing all over Texas. Attack dads nearly always suck, living out their lives vicariously through their 11-12 year olds. There are toxic team parents, which seem to congregate with each other (from Houston, Dallas, Oklahoma, Colorado) where it's just ugly as shite.

If you're bored, there's an entire reddit thread from hotel front desk agents bitching about sports tournament parents and how they act when they travel. Small slice of the mindset. Our teams have generally been well behaved (of course my kid is an angel.) Look up the forum on reddit about front desk agents and sports teams, Karens are a well known thing. Mama bear my arse. You're just drunk.

My cousin played lacrosse at highland park, I think he was all American and because of grades got into bunch of Ivy League for lacrosse and yea….that shite makes travel baseball seem very tame

Guess I been lucky, my kids team has really good parents but the coach does seem to only pick parents that are still nuclear family so maybe that has something to do with it.

My youngest has couple parents not together and those are the kids and parents that cause issues

Man unless your kid is legit prodigy of you have them playing any sport to try and get college scholarship, then your certifiable dumb AF.

Let them play to learn to compete, work hard, work as a team and to enjoy themselves at something they love. shite is a lot of work, if they don’t enjoy it, dont force them. But if they love it more than anything than make that sacrifice if you can for them.

Sorry for snapping, I just hate when people bring up scholarships. Imo that should never be the goal, goal should be to play the game they absolutely love at the highest competitive level they can and still enjoy it. High level competition ain’t for everyone, no need to ruin a kids love for the game or confidence over a game.
