It's close to the cold weather again...do you use a gas or traditional fireplace? I've had a few gas fireplaces before but nothing like the traditional firewood. As a family we would go in the woods and find the kindling and chop up wood. What about you?

Gas is of course easier but wood is better and more satisfying. I have one of each. Gas fireplace in the bedroom and a wood fireplace in the living room

Thank God! Wouldn't want the OP to start a shitty thread on people not participating in his shitty threads.

not real efficient but I like a real fireplace, grew up with one, when we lived in south FL, on the one or two days of the year where it would get cool we'd crank the AC all the way down and fire it up just to say we did

Used to have a traditional and swore I would never get a gas fireplace. Nothing was better than starting a fire on Friday and hearing that crackle and enjoying the smell. I now have a gas fireplace and LOVE it.... being able to light it anytime in seconds and turn it off whenever I like...not to mention being able to control how big the fire is is amazing. Love the crackle and smell, but convenience wins for me.
