Firefight at Cotton Valley trail ride leaves multiple shot, one critically

Kentrail "Turtle" Cornelius has been charged with illegal use of a weapon. He's held on a $150,000 bond.
A 17-year-old Minden High student was shot in the back but is recovering in the hospital. A man and women were each shot in the arm, treated and released.

As a former minden resident, I’m sad at what a shithole Webster Parish is quickly becoming. People have trashed minden on here for whatever reason, but for a long time it’s been one of the cleanest, nicest and safest small towns in the state by a mile. It’s just boring as hell.

I agree. I lived there myself years ago and it was a really nice place. I’m sorry to hear this.

I think he is kin to some of the Cornelius' in that area and he is involved in those trail rides.

I have met more quality people from the Minden area than anywhere else. For a small town they have some good restaurants.

Yea Minden seems to be on a downward slide which is really a shame. Honestly have no idea why these trail rides aren't outlawed. I really don't see the point of them and something along the lines of this seems to always happen.

While they aren’t technically outlawed, more and more local jurisdictions are requiring permits to be obtained.
The permit application process requires proof of insurance, security and EMS services, and adequate parking.
This particular trail ride didn’t have a permit, and it seems the Webster Parish sheriff is not happy at all.

I know a few black guys that frequent trail rides around there. Several had been shot at at trail rides. A few of the rides had quit playing rap music to eliminate the thug culture. Looks like they need to try a little harder.
