I have a cousin (nope) who lives outside of Isola, Mississippi. Last night she and her farmer husband were out and witnessed a flaming object going across the sky. They managed to get two photographs of the object. Anyone have ideas what it could be? You know what I think, but we all know I am wrong.

Probably just a weather balloon (engulfed in flames).

Around thirty years back, the wife kids and I were crossing that general area around 1:00 am one might headed from Cleveland, MS toward Jackson (after a long day at work). Suddenly a B-52 passed over us at maybe 500 feet altitude from the west headed toward the east. Scared the hell out of us as we watched it until it passed out of sight - flying (literally) at not much above treetop altitude. We found out the next day that the Airforce guys were practicing low altitude runs from (I forget the AF Base name) Jonesboro, Arkansas to Columbus, MS. I guess they figured there was nothing crossing the Delta to run into, so it was an excellent low altitude flight practice area. My input in what ,y cousin photographed is that I have seen very strange stuff in that area.

Nope - they streak, moving pretty fast. All of us have seen meteorites and know what they look like. She says this was flying, not streaking across the sky.

They are filled with helium and not flammable. Also - as you can see, this was late at night, so not reflection off sun.

Could have been the rear of a jet engine of an F-16, flying at a low altitude. Since it was so dark, they would not be able to see the plane, and the plane would be flying very fast. (slower than a meteorite)

Or it was swamp gas from a weather balloon was trapped in a thermal pocket and reflected the light from Venus.

You can take the top photo and expand it 1000 times on the screen and the object seems to have definite edges.

All I am saying is it is very strange.

I didn't look at the second photo expanded.

You didn't let me finish. It's a weather balloon filled with alien juice.
