My engineers can’t believe some of the tomfoolery that exists in our infrastructure.

My superintendents can’t comprehend how engineers these days are unable to design quality roads and bridges.

Dude our major east/west interstates don’t even have 6 lanes in our most populous cities.

What makes you think they’ll ever finish this pipe dream project?

The need is not there compared to a need for a loop around the capital area. That’s top priority. Period. How many people even go to Nola from Lafayette on a regular basis compared to the amount of people who would need a bypass around metro Baton Rouge?

Not even close. All the people who would take this 49 connector would just use this major loop around Br. It’s way more important. $$$

Everything in Lafayette on Evangeline Thwy from the interstate through Pinhook needs to be bulldozed and redone. It is a complete eyesore.

Agree. I wish the parish and city would put resources into making that part of town nice like they do with the southern part of town. Once you cross that river it might as well be another city. Not that Lafayette itself has ghetto parts it’s just that most of town is older compared to the south side.

Everyone from Lafayette takes 90 to New Orleans to avoid Baton Rouge even though it’s 20 minutes slower

A loop would accomplish the same thing

If anything, 49 needs to widened to 6 lanes from Opelousas to the 10/49 intersection. That exit 4 area in Carencro is blowing up like crazy. It needs to be expanded before it’s too late.

I suspect the Franklin overpass that was just built is because of the I-49 plan?

HWY 90 is a shite show, but I take that every time I go to New Orleans from Lafayette because I’m not messing with I-10 or Baton Rouge

That "future corridor of I-49" sign has been up since I am a kid. I expect them to maybe start in 20 years from now and may end up seeing it done in my lifetime.

I’ll take hwy 90 to Nola from lafy if it’s a weekend or afternoon weekday. If it’s esrly in the morning or late at night I’m taking 10. I’ve made it from Nola to lafy in like an hour and 40 mins. Set the cruise at 80 and you are rolling all the way.

shite load of people travel between the South side of Laffy to NOLA via 90 on a regular basis. That’s not the issues.

The issues are I-10 to the airport in Laffy and Raceland to 310/Westbank Expressway.

All the new overpasses and J Turns from Broussard to Berwick are part of the I-49 plan.
