That's not bad mileage.
My kid (2016 Silverado 1500, 70k miles) wanted to be cool and bought a 6" inch lift kit and 37 x 13.5 Nitto Mud Blaster's for it without talking to me first.
Told him he'd need to regear it to have any chance of not bricking the tranny within a month. And that his truck has the clamshell diffs that cost $2,500 each to regear. The guy who sold it to him said don't worry about it.
He needed a 4wd shop owner to tell him this again before he believed it. Luckily he was able to recoup his money and resold everything.

Did you try a friction stabilizer when you changed the transmission fluid? Oftentimes that is the fix.

Are they still having major engine issues?
No and in Toyota fashion they replaced the engine on ALL the ones that had issues, no cost effective work around like other manufacturers.

You that have replaced your transmission, did you have it rebuilt or did you purchase a remanufactured one. If reman, what you reckon the best place to get a remanufactured one? A lot of option on line

I think you’re correct although on Reddit there are still a lot of complaints about failed engines in newer trucks on the tundra sub.

I have a 2006 silverado with 290,000 on it. No problems at all so far….but I think about it every time I drive it!

Yeah I spent 11K on my '18 last year between transmission, power steering and front end.

It's a problem with 2014-2018 models. Flushing fluids helps initially as they got shipped out with the wrong fluid. Just swapping out torque convertor or transmission doesn't fix the underlying issue. It's a design flaw. It's gonna happen sooner or later. I've done 2 flushes and out and put in a cooler thermostat to keep temps down. If you seeing 190 temps be careful.

I have a 2014 Silverado with some hard miles on it towing a camper over mountain passes. No issues at all so far at 150k miles

When will you goons ever learn? Stop buying American junk.
Right now your options are either try to find a used 21 or older Tundra and pay a fortune or buy a newer one and hope it doesn’t suffer from sudden catastrophic disassembly.
It’ll be a few more years before they sort out those 6 cyl twin turbos.

2018 Tundra. 5.7/4x4/ with tow package. Probably the last great truck.
Stock trans cooler and umpteen years of refinement. Also less communication electronics when they don’t want you to have a v8 anymore and try shutting them off.
After that it’s OBS power strokes. Went down a fun rabbit hole in AI asking about most off grid trucks.

This thread goes to show that new shite just sucks. Give me an older truck of any brand and it will probably take care of you if you maintain it

In my search I found a 2016 f150 Platinum V8 4x4 with 26k miles in great shape and clean Carfax. It disappeared in a day for $46k.
You can find them but you have to be fast and ready to pay to have it shipped

2021 Expedition full rebuild at 80k. CDF drum replacement. Known issue with Ford's 10r80, supposedly fixed for '22 going forward, but no recall ever issued.

How many of you still have an automobile that is older than 2005?
