She was a 1099 employee for both
BTW there's no such thing as a 1099 Employee. You're either an Employee or an Independent contractor--there is no in between. She needs to talk to an experienced employment lawyer...

This would be a self employed person.

1099 employees are not eligible

Our hours were cut by 20%, basically from 40 hours to 32. We all filed and were not denied, but said we made too much to qualify for the state money.
Does anyone know if we will be eligible for the federal money? From what I read, it appears we will be.

Why would you get unemployment if you sill have a job?
Posted on 4/2/20 at 11:48 am to REB BEER
Doubt you dont qualify from earning too much. There is just a cap on max paid out

Not getting a full 40 hours. When you file your unemployment each week if you work any part time you have to claim it. Those hours are pulled from your UE payment

Systems havent been updated. File and continue filing certs. When everything gets caught up, there will be backpay.

Washington's Max and was the extra money on it????
Washingtons max is over $700 but they are very restrictive

Right, but the guidelines were just expanded to take in 1099 contract style filers. But like everything else when you deal with the State of Louisiana, there are hang ups and roadblocks.

fiancé lost her job
Your fiancé is a man.
Edited to add: There are two words: Fiancé and Fiancée.
Both are correct but are gender specific.
OP's fiancé (if spelled correctly) would be a man and not a woman.
Take note.

If you go to La Works website, it says if you lost any income due to Coronavirus, you are eligible for unemployment benefits.
That means anyone who took a reduction in pay is eligible.

I believe the exact wording was that my weekly payout would be $0.00 due to "excessive earnings." I wish I knew what the cutoff number is.

Yes. Probably will be back paid as systems arent updated.
It's called Pandemic UI. It's still being programmed.

I’m just a layman, but from my understanding it depends on your tax filings from 2019 or 2018 if you haven’t filed 19’ yet.
If you made over $150k as a couple you are not eligible. $75k for individuals

The $2 trillion law, the CARES Act, pays laid-off and furloughed workers an extra $600 a week for up to four months, and extends existing state benefits by 13 weeks.
It also offers jobless benefits to previously ineligible groups, which include self-employed individuals such as freelancers; workers in the gig economy, like Uber and Lyft drivers; independent contractors and others, as long as their unemployment was related to COVID-19.
These workers are eligible to receive half their state’s average weekly unemployment benefit plus $600 a week.
Self-employed and gig workers may have to wait a little longer than other jobless Americans to get their unemployment benefits.
The claims-filing process for these groups has been mired in delays and confusion as states try to build out their administrative systems, according to experts.
