You could have just as easily said that I don't know a darn thing about what I am saying.

All 911 calls are recorded.

The shooter screwed the goose and now has to do some time.

let me begin:

quote:

you left out the jury...there were there every day.

i know the jury was there everyday, but since you previously were talking about "all this evidence that was kept from the jury" i concluded that you were not one of the jury members because you would not be privy to any of the legal discussions or hearings outside of that part of the trial which was presented to the jury

quote:

Like I said - I could give a rats arse who believes me or not - but there is so much misinformation

most of the misinformation in this thread is coming from you

quote:

And there was no transcript or recording of the 911 call - just a report of a office that had mistakes all over it to cover his own tracks ! yep ! Mayberry

the officer testified that everything in his report, he typed while on the phone with fontenot and his sister. he does that for all of his reports to insure accuracy.

Im not gonna sit here and take one side or the other, im just saying that you're coming on here spewing bullshite

and this one:

quote:

they said they were to scared to call 911

they never said they were too scared to call 911

they said they called their moms because they didnt know how to get out of the neighborhood and they were scared (because someone was shooting at them ya know), their mothers told them to drive to Lourdes so thats what they did

quote:

( but yet their good friend was bleeding out in the back seat)....

he was shot in the head, he wasnt bleeding out, he was dying if not already dead

one of the boys testified to nudging rivault to try and get him to wake up, but when he saw the injury and there was no response, he knew he had died

Again, if you're gonna post about the evidence and testimony presented at trial, its best to not be full of shite

well please tell us mr. lawyer how he got 'screwed'. i'd say he got off lightly seeing as he killed one, injured two for a drive-by shooting.

have no problem with what Fontenot did. There was a problem already in the neighborhood with things getting stolen so people including himself were on the lookout and he took action. If you go do something like stealing, then you have to put up with the consequences. Those kids who got shot put themselves in the situation. Fontenot didn't set them up or go find them, hell he had bought the gun due to all the recent burglaries. I'm tired of hearing about how the CRIMINALS are the victim. This man should be walking free. If someone got killed that was the risk they were willing to take whether it happened while they were driving away or not.

911 call was not played in court..was not presented - just a copy of the officers report

Any way - thanks to those of you that have an open mind and understand that things are not what they seem and good people do stupid things and get screwed.

The rest - don't get arrested in Lafayette Parish !

And some of you really need to grow up if you want to have a decent discussion -

No, it's well know that that is what he claimed; that he somehow missed the tailgate 3 times and instead put all 3 shots into each of the 3 kids.

And it's known that he intentionally withheld telling police that he fired his weapon that night.

the call wasnt played in court because the content of the call was just his sister saying "we think someone was breaking into the cars"

that was it

neither the call nor its content were ever disputed so it wasnt played

but the officer that responded to the call got on the stand and testified

they didnt just "present his report" since that would be blatant hearsay

but please, continue with your lack of information

And you don't think, if the officer was incorrect, the defense would have requested the tapes and played it for the jury themselves?

It seems as if things are exactly as they seem - a moron shot three kids who may, but probably weren't, involved in trying to break into a vehicle.

Good people will occasionally do stupid things, but they should expect to be held responsible for their actions. Seth Fontenot didn't get "screwed". He exhibited phenomenally poor judgment and now he's going to jail for it.

Some of that crazy-arse gibberish might halfway make some sense if there was any independent evidence that any of those kids were doing squat to his truck.

To my knowledge, there was zero collaborative evidence.

He wanted to catch someone, he thought he heard someone breaking into his truck so he went out and shot the nearest passing vehicle. That's basically it.

this is my big problem. supposedly he was sleeping. he 'heard' the sound of someone breaking into his vehicle. He has time to put on his shoes, grab his gun, run outside, shoot the first round in the side of the truck. He must be 'Flash' reincarnate to be that quick. Sounds to me he was waiting for them

That or he was dreaming and heard nothing (apparently like the rest of his family) or he heard an actual failed burglary attempt got his gun ran out and shot a random truck driving by.

I too have trouble believing that these kids were clicking his door handles and trying to break into his truck (which has none of their DNA on it) but then got into their truck to drive away just as he happened to be running out of his house. That would be a fairly long failed burglary attempt.

If they were trying to steal his radio, but failed and decided to give up and drive home, I think 1 or both of them could have easily admitted that. At the end of the day, the dude's property was fine and nobody was on his property or threatening him or his property in any way when he shot them.

Good people do stupid things but when the stupid thing is killing someone in the way he did it is called manslaughter.

And that's the bottom line...
If something had happened that even remotely justified shooting them, he would not have been charged, much less convicted.

Look up the Merritt Landry case in New Orleans. He shot a kid - who was a true piece of shite - in his yard under questionable circumstances. It's caused him plenty of legal problems, but he got off on the criminal charges.

Ah, it's obvious now that you're just here to stir the shite.

Since you were at the trial everyday, and saw all the presented evidence up close, what corroborating evidence was presented that these boys were attempting to break into the vehicles? Keep in mind, the boys not calling 911 after being shot is not corroborating evidence to Fontenot's claims.

You aren't having a discussion. You post the same bs and don't reply to anyone in particular, then you disappear. I think you are some piece of shite half arse journalist trying to get public quotes for a garbage article. Something pathetic related to that. Trolling.
